JCI Core Service Request Form
The goal of the Joint Cell Isolation (JCI) Core is to provide MARC members with services for the isolation of tissue fragments or single cells from human or animal joint specimens. The Core provides
laser capture microdissection and
flow cytometry cell sorting services.
Laser Capture Microdissection (LCM)
The JCI Core provides staff-operated laser capture microdissection of tissue regions or cells from sections of human or animal joints. As seen below, the LCM is a microscope that is capable of dissecting tissue on a semipermeable microscope slide. An image of the slide is projected onto a computer where the desired tissue/cell is outlined and
ultraviolet or infrared solid-state lasers cut out the tissue effectively and accurately. We also have a CryoStar NX70 cryostat and a
Leica RM2125 RTS microtome to section the tissue for slide preparation prior to using the LCM. A
demo provided by ThermoFisher illustrates how the LCM can dissect out tissue/structures/cells from a tissue sample.
Services offered for the LCM
