Dr. Danny Simpson is an Associate Professor and a member of the Gastrointestinal Disease Team, specializing in novel approaches to the treatment of GI cancers. He practices at both the Moores Cancer Center and the California Proton Center, an Affiliate of UC San Diego Health Cancer Network.

A dedicated clinician, he has considerable experience in the use of a wide variety of radiotherapy treatment approaches including IMRT, IGRT, proton therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). He oversees the liver stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) program, treating both primary and metastatic liver tumors, with photon and proton SBRT. He has been recognized as a Top Doc by the San Diego Magazine.

Dr. Simpson is also involved with resident and medical student education and training, and serves on multiple education committees within the Department and School of Medicine. He was named an Educator of the Year by the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology (ARRO).
