​​Welcome to the Lee Lab​​​​​

​​Dr. Henry C. Lee is a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at UC San Diego, Clinical Director of UCSD Neonatology, and Medical Director of the UCSD Jacobs Medical Center NICU. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and MS in Epidemiology from Stanford University. He completed both his residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Neonatology at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford. He previously served as Chief Medical Officer for the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC), where he was involved in various quality improvement projects across California NICUs. 

Lab Focus: Neo​​​natal Resuscitation, quality improvement, and perinatal health equity

The Lee lab seeks to improve the quality of care for mothers and newborns, particularly among preterm infants. Particular research interests include perinatal and neonatal epidemiology, simulation in neonatal resuscitation, and benefits of breastmilk for preterm infants. We also conduct quality improvement efforts and seek to disseminate and implement evidence-based practices.

​A few current research projects are:

• Improving outcomes of periviable births via an enhanced prediction tool
• Birth at the earliest viable gestations of 22-25 weeks presents challenges in prognosis, counseling, and shared decision making. We are interested in evaluating updated clinical tools for this purpose.
• China Pediatric Scientist Development Program (sponsored by the China Medical Board)
• We are seeking to foster collaboration with pediatric physician scientists, providing training to young investigators who can be leaders in pediatric academic medicine in China.
