Ida Deichaite, PhD
Director, Industry Relations
As Director of Industry Relations at Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, Ida Deichaite, PhD, fosters relationships between faculty and industry that result in the translation of faculty’s work into therapies, medical devices and other tools to help patients battling cancer. She also organizes the Moores Cancer Center’s annual Industry/Academia Translational Oncology Symposium, which began in 2004 and has resulted in numerous fruitful collaborations.
Previously, Dr. Deichaite was associate director of business development for Avanir Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company developing new therapies for central nervous system (CNS) indications. During her tenure, she established a technology evaluation program for in-licensing compounds. She also made noteworthy contributions to an early-stage program in inflammation, as well as a late state CNS program.
She is a member of the UC San Diego Innovation Advisory Board and an editor of the Journal of Translational Medicine. Deichaite is widely published in numerous scientific journals. Dr. Deichaite received her Doctor of Philosophy in molecular biology from Princeton University.
